Nepal Day Sixteen: Pheriche to Deboche*

SATURDAY 30 NOVEMBER 2013
DAY SIXTEEN (CHU THUK)

  • Deboche was a village before Tengboche, a bit deep down in a forest-like area (many trees) and we passed a valley.
  • Pasang got us to walk through a local trail which was difficult for us, but both Nima and Sonya also used that trail. We also saw a local walk there naturally. We needed PaSang‘s hands and helps to carefully bring us across.
  • Stayed at Himalaya Culture Home and 20yo Laxman was the only staff looking after the lodge! Attached bathroom. Hot shower. Nice bed. Nice blankets. Warm. Very new. $15/ room/ night.
  • Tibetan bread here wasn’t crispy. Laxman put in a pot with a lid after deep-frying (not sure why). Fried eggs were good.
  • Pasang had 2 big cans of beer and 2 small ones! Drunk!
  • Laxman seemed to understand English but preferred not to speak much and wasn’t confident to speak in English.
